The Schools Working Group is responsible for ensuring appropriate opportunity exists for Netball to flourish in educational establishments and to provide information to help assist teachers and players within the early stages of the sport.

 

Main Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop and implement a regional strategy for working with the education sector
  • Co-ordinate and run the Regional rounds of the National Schools Tournament in all age groups in line with the National Competition Structure with support from the Competition and Events Working Group (CEWG)
  • Work with Netball Development Officer's (NDO's) to increase the number of affiliated schools in the Region
  • To work with NDO's to identify activities to promote school-club links

 

Successes so far:

 

Cell Priority 1 - Club Development

NSW High Five Teachers / AOTT's - 2 hour workshop

Designed and implemented by Netball South West (NSW) this course is a valuable resource for anyone wishing to improve their knowledge and skills in High 5 Delivery. Packs are ordered through NDO's who liaise with the Regional Coordinator regarding resources required

Cell Priority 1 - Club Development

Regional Rounds of National Schools

This tournament runs successfully every year organised by this working group who ensures all aspects of competition, health and safety are covered. The 2009 Regional Rounds were held on 31st January (U16's and U14'S) at Millfield School , Somerset and 4th February (U19's) at Taunton Vale Sports Club, Somerset

Working with Competition Managers in School Sports Partnerships (SSP's) to ensure competition in schools is developed
