Torch Trophy Trust PDF Print E-mail

The Torch Trophy Trust has its origins in the 1948 Olympics held in London. Before every Olympic Games a torch relay is organised from Athens to the Host City. Following the 1948 Games, the Torch designed for the last leg of the Relay into Wembley Stadium was presented to the Trust.

Torch Trophy Trust
For the Torch Trophy Trust, the flaming torch symbolises its dedication to helping and recognising the efforts of volunteers in sport. The Trust is entirely run by volunteers, and its Trustees are some of the best known names in sport.

The Trust actively engages in encouraging and helping voluntary workers at club level by operating and providing a small Bursary Scheme, called the "Torch Trophy Trust Bursaries".

The aim of the Bursaries is to provide financial aid for those wishing to increase their knowledge and their ability to help others on a voluntary basis by taking courses to qualify as club coaches, officials or administrators.

All those associated with the Trust are committed to its aims to recognise the ‘unsung heroes' and to enable individuals to develop their skills. It is the dedication of these individuals that enables others to participate and develop their talents in their chosen activity.

You can apply for one of the limited number of Bursaries that are granted each year.

Are you a volunteer?

Do you want to improve your skills?

Would £1,000 be of help?

Is you Governing Body keen to help out, but, can't find the funds?

If so, why not apply for a Torch Trophy Trust Bursary

Criteria for Applications

In most cases, the minimum Bursary would be £100 and the maximum £1000 and it would not be for more than 50% of the total costs involved. The Bursaries are for individuals or groups who are unable to obtain the necessary funding from any other source. Applications are welcome from all parts of the United Kingdom and from all sports including disability and youth. When applying for this bursary your application must be supported with a letter from the National Governing Body, which in this case is England Netball.
