The aim of this course is to promote youth officiating, help candidates acquire an improved knowledge and understanding of the game whilst learning the generic skills of umpiring with the opportunity to progress onto achieving the C Umpire Award. This course can be delivered by teachers either within the curricula; extra curricula or a club environment, however prior to the course being delivered teachers must attend an orientation workshop. Teacher Orientation WorkshopThis workshop will equip teachers with the necessary skills and knowledge needed for course delivery. This workshop is to be organised through Specialist Sports Colleges, School Sport Partnerships, Netball Development Coordinators or CAPS Clubs and should be 3 hours in duration. To organise an Orientation workshop please download the application form. After teachers have attended this workshop they are then able to organise a Student Workshop, The Youth Umpire Award. Youth Umpire AwardThe Youth Umpire Award will require candidates to successfully complete a course workbook and undertake successful achievement of a practical umpiring assessment. When the candidate has successfully completed the workbook and is able to apply the rules in a practical umpiring situation, then the candidate should apply, through the School Sport Partnership or club, for the final practical assessment. Details of practical assessors can be found by contacting the Regional Coordinator.
