How do I gain a place at a Satellite or County Academy?

In order for an athlete to be nominated to attend Satellite or County Academy Screening, a teacher or club coach who has attended the Talent ID and Selection Workshop or the Excel Framework Workshop must observe them. Other opportunities to access the programme include being scouted at County and Regional Netball tournaments by an England Netball Qualified Scout. If you are scouted you would then be invited to attend an Academy session to establish whether it is the right environment for your development.

How can I progress up the Excel Pathway?

There are some key events within the Excel Pathway, which provide links between the different levels. These events provide a taste of what it is like to play at the next level. Some occur locally, between satellite and county academies. Additional Regional events include:

• County Academy Festival
• T & P Screening Day
• T & P Game Day
• Regional Screening
• Regional Excel Weekend

There are also key transition points in the calendar where the nature of the academy group is reassessed. Athletes may be recommended to move up or down the pathway at this stage to enhance their development.
