Avon has set up a workshop in January that is aimed at supporting coaches, teachers and young leaders to work with disabled Netball players.
The idea of the workshop is to give you the confidence and understanding of working with different disabilities and then relating it to netball specific situations. The majority of the course will be practical however if you don't want to get invovled or can't due to injuries etc please inform the workshop organiser, Zaya Morris, when you book on. It may be that you are working with a group of disabled athletes or maybe working with one or two players within a club session. There are many different physical and cognitive disabilites and with 1 in every 6 people in the country having some kind of disability it is very likely that you will have someone in your club either now or in the future that will have a disability. With this being the case it is really important that coaches make sure they are fully confident and inclusive to these players. The aim of the workshop is to give you the knowledge and support to be inclusive within your clubs, and for those that are interested there is a possible opportunity to further your coaching experience by working with teachers and coaching netball in Special Schools in the area.
