Netball given live coverage on BBC Radio Gloucester
Last weekend was an exciting time for Netball in Gloucestershire when they were one or 3 sports nominated for a 30 second pitch to ‘sell’ their sport live on BBC Radio Gloucestershire. Following the 30 second pitch, the public were asked to vote for the sport that they would like covered live on local radio that afternoon. Netball was competing with an equine sport and football!
Gilly Salter, Media and Communications Director for Netball South West and Life Member from Hucclecote did this with style, and was delighted when she heard that netball had received the most number of phone in votes from the public
Bentham was hustling with players from the central leagues1st and 2nd Division and the game covered was a top of the league clash between Rednock Ladies and Hucclecote A. It proved to be an exciting game, closely contested with Rednock stealing the victory by just 5 goals.
This was a fabulous opportunity to promote 21st century netball where England are ranked 4th in the world of over 40 competing nationals with 1.5 milliion players in this Country.
The game today certainly demonstrated a high level of skill, athletism and dynamic movement, keeping the supporters on edge throughout showing just how far the game of netball has evolved.
